In keeping with our commitment to the latest optometrical technology, we routinely take wide field retinal photographs and ultrasound (OCT) scans of your eyes as part of our normal eye examination and we actually show you your scans and photos and explain their meaning in simple terms.
Our state of the art eye tests help in the detection of:
There are very few optometry practices with this type of sophisticated, computerised technology. However, this does not mean expensive fees. We are still proud to Bulk Bill all of our patients. However, retinal imaging and OCT is in addition to the Medicare Rebate and attracts an additional fee of $55.00 - a small price for the comfort of knowing your eyes are healthy.
OCT (Ocular Coherence Tomography)
OCT produces a direct cross sectional image of the layers of the retina and optic nerve. This allows for early detection of a range of eye diseases including glaucoma (known as the Sneak Thief of Sight) and macula degeneration.
Our Optomap system produces an ultra-wide field and detailed view of the retina including, blood vessels (arteries and veins), the macular and the optic nerve. The photographs and OCT provide a permanent record which can be compared at subsequent visits documenting any slight changes in appearance.
